Leg Pads
Goalie Equipment FAQ's
What goalie equipment does Team Town Sports carry?
Our goalie section covers the complete set of position-specific gear: leg pads, blockers, trappers (catching gloves), goalie sticks, masks and helmets, chest and arm protectors, goalie pants, and goalie skates. We carry equipment for youth, junior, intermediate, and senior goalies from Bauer and True. The True Catalyst line and Bauer Flylite goalie gear are our most recently launched lines.
What are the newest goalie gear launches at Team Town Sports?
Our most recent major goalie launches include the Bauer Goalie and Flylite series and True Catalyst Goalie Equipment. Bauer's Flylite gear focuses on weight reduction without compromising protection. The True Catalyst line brings a custom-fit philosophy to goalie equipment, making professional-grade performance accessible at multiple price points.
What goalie pads does Team Town Sports carry and which are most popular?
We carry goalie leg pads from Bauer and True across all age and skill levels. True goalie pads — including the True Catalyst 7X3 Pro — are among our top-converting goalie products. Bauer's range covers junior through senior sizes with multiple performance tiers. An in-store visit is particularly valuable for goalie pads, where proper sizing makes an enormous difference to both protection and mobility on the ice.
What should a first-time goalie buy?
First-time goalies need leg pads, a chest and arm protector , a blocker, a trapper, a goalie stick , a goalie mask, goalie skates , and a goalie-specific cup or pelvic protector. At entry and intermediate levels, bundled goalie starter sets can simplify the process and offer good value. We strongly recommend an in-store fitting for your first set of pads and skates.
How do I size goalie leg pads?
Leg pad sizing is measured from the centre of your kneecap to the top of your ankle bone, then a thigh rise is added based on how high up the thigh you want coverage. Sizes typically run from around 24 inches (youth) to 36 inches or more (senior). The critical fit check: when in the butterfly position, the knee should sit squarely in the knee cradle, the pad should lie flat against the ice, and the top should sit against the thigh without restricting movement.
Do goalie sticks differ from player sticks?
Goalie sticks have a wide, flat paddle above the blade, a longer and wider blade optimized for sweeping pucks and making pad saves, and a flared toe designed to cover ice in the butterfly position. The shaft is far stiffer than a player stick since goalies rarely flex it for shots. Goalie sticks must be purchased separately from all other goalie gear.
Can I buy goalie equipment in-store and get a professional fitting?
Yes, and we strongly recommend it — particularly for leg pads , goalie skates , and chest protectors . Our staff can measure you properly for pads, check your butterfly position and knee cradle alignment, and help you find gear that gives full coverage without restricting mobility.
